Like most of you reading this, I am a home decor junkie. Also like most of you, I struggle to make decisions for my own home. So much so that in 2011, I started this blog and called it "I'm Busy Procrastinating." It was to be my motivator to get projects done. After all, there's nothing like an audience to give you a kick in the pants.
Yeah, I did some projects. I did some decorating. I dabbled in painting furniture and thought I would take that on as a side gig. But when I noticed I had to drag myself down to my workshop to put on the next layer of paint, I knew something wasn't right. I loved the transformation of the furniture but I didn't love the process.
On my to-do list for a long while had been to teach myself to make my own throw pillows. After all, if I could make them more cheaply than I could buy them, I could change them out that more often! (My husband was so excited. Ahem.) Finally one day I reacquainted myself with my dust-covered sewing machine, read and watched a bazillion online tutorials, and a navy velvet pillow cover was completed.
Something clicked in me, and with encouragement from some social media friends, a business was born. Finally I had found my passion. Throw pillows ... who knew?! In January 2014, I opened my new shop, "Stuck on Hue," on Etsy, a platform I already knew and loved as a shopper.
My business took off, and my part-time volunteer job ramped back up to more like full time, so my blog went on the back burner and took a very long hiatus. Not only was I working seven days a week, which left no time for anything non-essential, but "I'm Busy Procrastinating" was no longer my motto and certainly did not jive with my business image. During this time, Instagram took off and became my favorite social media channel. Still, I missed sharing here, so after a year and a half of silence, I have re-branded my blog to match my business and my passion.
I hope to share what's inspiring me in home decor, some behind-the-scenes of my pillow business, suggestions on how color and pattern can help transform your home, and makeovers of my own spaces.
