Crushing on painter Allison Wickey

A few months ago I was looking for wall art online at Crate & Barrel and came across this piece that prominently features my two favorite colors – turquoise and white.

It’s called Vein of Truth.   According to the info posted on the C&B site, the artist is Allison Wickey.  I did a quick online search for Allison and discovered her website and fell in love (with her art and her talent).  She lives in Florida on the Gulf of Mexico and is inspired by the coastal scenes around her.
Here’s a sampling of some of her other pieces:

Some day when I’m a big girl and have money to spend on original works of art by an established painter, I just might have to give her a ring.  Right now The Mr. would laugh in my face if I even hinted at my desire to purchase a piece that costs over $1000.  He thinks I’m a good painter and that I could recreate it on my own.  Well, let’s just say I’m a novice painter.  And I don’t have the talent to DIY art like this!
  • Do you love the coastal influence in her paintings?
  • Have you invested in a REAL work of art, or do you secretly desire to like I do?
  • Do you think it’s worth shelling out over $1000 for an original piece?
  • Would the designers on Million Dollar Decorators laugh at my lack of a fat wallet?

  1. I've been crushing on Rebecca Cabassa's art. I first saw it on the Design Indulgence blog, and then that blogger was featured in BH&G a month or two ago. I think one piece is in the $2000+ range. For some reason I have a mental price range and wouldn't spend anything over $200. Especially since most of the art is abstract that I like and I can kind of paint myself. I did one that's over our fireplace now. I like the art you featured as well!

  2. Heather Brown.

love her. i have a few of her limited edition prints... and an autographed poster but no original paintings... i wish. i will have though.. one of these days.

are you familiar with 20X200? a great blog/website for art/photos/prints. and cheap!

ok. now i have to stop procrastinating... :)

  3. I love your blog!!! I live in Louisville KY, and it's great see too a local home that's not full of "country decor" : ) Here is a link to my blog...
    Have a great week!

  4. It was so nice to meet you too! :) You are more than welcome to use any photos from that day..feel free to take what you need! :) I had to write myself a note to make sure not to forget my camera...finally I just stuck my point and shoot in my purse so I wouldn't forget to take it. :)
I totally enjoyed myself and hope we all get to do that again sometime!

    Have a great week!

  5. Love the blog and love all the ideas!

  6. Those were some great paintings, but I think you could do something just as grand or better. From the short time I've known you (literally, less than a week), I think you're pretty darn crafty and talented in the DIY department. Get yourself a big canvas and get to work, girl..hehe! I can't wait to see what you make :)

  7. I love finding new blogs to read. What beautiful artwork. I'm a new follower.

  8. Love the artwork. I have a couple of pieces that I totally love. I doubt that they will have any real worth other than to me BUT my father-in-law bought Chagal's when he was a starving student and now I get to enjoy them everyday:)

  9. Hey Hollie :) I got the buttons from here-->
I've never seen so many social media buttons in one place! Hope you find something you like!
    Have a great day
    MIssy :)

I hope you'll stop a second to let me know you were here and/or to share your thoughts!
